PG Diploma and Honours Bursary
The PG Diploma and Honours bursary is designed to support South African UNISA alumni students by covering their tuition fees. However, eligibility for this bursary depends on the student’s academic performance, the set eligibility criteria, and the availability of funds.
Important Dates and Communication of Outcomes
The 2024 UNISA Postgraduate Bursary application window is open, and we will continue to accept applications until February 2024. The final decisions for the PG Diploma and Honours bursaries will be communicated to the applicants in the first week of April 2024, following the closing date of registration in March 2024.
Likewise, the outcomes for the Master’s and Doctoral bursaries will also be communicated during the first week of April 2024.
Notice about Inactive Period
Please note that the 2024 PG Bursary applications will be temporarily unavailable during the university’s closure from December 21, 2023, to January 9, 2024. The application process will be inactive during this period and will resume after the university reopens. Rest assured that once the application process is reactivated, there will be sufficient time to submit your bursary application before the closing date.
Eligibility Criteria
- Beneficiaries of the PG Diploma/Honours bursary who are returning: These are students who have previously received the PG Diploma/Honours bursary from UNISA and are returning to continue their studies. They are eligible to apply for the bursary again.
- South African UNISA alumni who have completed an NQF level 7 undergraduate degree: These individuals have completed an undergraduate degree at the NQF level 7 from UNISA. As university alumni, they are eligible to apply for the postgraduate bursary.
- South African PG Diploma/Honours students who are in their second year of study: These are South African students who are currently in their second year of study in a PG Diploma or Honours program at UNISA. They are eligible to apply for the bursary.
- Permanent staff members of UNISA: Permanent staff members of UNISA are also eligible to apply for the postgraduate bursary. This allows them to further their education while continuing their service at the university.
- Students of the Graduate School of Business Leadership who are enrolled in specific programs: These are students who are currently enrolled in certain programs at the Graduate School of Business Leadership at UNISA. They are eligible to apply for the postgraduate bursary. However, the specific programs that qualify for the bursary should be checked on the official UNISA website.
Who is Not Eligible
- Students who are participating in specialized study programs, such as PGCE certificates, and programs not intended for degree completion.
- Those students who have already obtained a postgraduate degree at the same level or higher on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as the qualification for which they are currently enrolled
