South Africa is experiencing severe winter storms. But there’s a bit of good news for the elderly. The SASSA Older Person grants are set to increase in the second half of 2024.

Starting from 1 October 2024, the SASSA Older Person grants will increase by R10. This might not seem like a big amount, but it’s a significant help for the nearly 4 million elderly people who depend on these government benefits.

Regular Checks

When you submit an application for the SASSA grant, you should be aware that SASSA may conduct periodic reviews to verify that your circumstances have not changed since your initial application. These reviews are an essential part of the process to ensure that the grant recipients still meet the eligibility criteria for receiving the grant.

You will be notified in writing three months before the review, providing the date, time, and location of the review. This notification allows you to prepare and participate in the review process as needed.
